We are now offering yearly membership of the Lighthouse. For the bargain price of £20 per annum you will get lots of goodies and be on our preview email list so you'll know exactly what is coming up long before anyone else does!
HAVE A GO AT VOLUNTEERING!
We have lots of young people who come and help us to make the Lighthouse happen as young volunteers. They get involved with all aspects of what we do from running the bars (alcohol free!!) to supporting our tutors to run music sessions.
JOIN OUR YOUTH BOARD!
The Lighthouse is a youth led project. This means that young people decide what they want to do, what projects they want to make happen and what gigs they want to put on. Essentially they tell us what to do and we support them to make it happen. This year we have started a Youth Board. Twelve young people from some of our projects get together every month to make decisions about what is happening now and what they want to happen in the future. We welcome everyone at the Lighthouse and anyone can get involved in our youth board so long as you are under 21. ADULT VOLUNTEERING!
We might be a young peoples project but we also welcome adults as volunteers if they bring certain skills or experience musically or if they have lots of free time and think by getting involved they can make a difference to the project or young people in the Bay. We undertake rigourous checking to keep everyone safe. So if you're over 18 and want to come on board as an adult volunteer you will need to provide 2 people we can contact as references and undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check before you can join the crew. As a Company Ltd by Guarantee with charitable objectives we have to have a management board who take responsibility for everything that happens at the Lighthouse and insure we meet our legal obligations. Essentially we have a core group of adults with shadow positions held by young people from the Youth Board to make sure they have a voice at every level.
